Excitement grows as Herefordshire children get taste of West End
Children in Bromyard will be getting a taste of Broadway and the West End as they join
the Conquest Theatre’s adult drama group in Big the Musical this autumn.
Join the Conquest Theatre as this classic 1988 motion picture fantasy bursts onto the
stage in an unforgettable theatrical experience which is perfect for all ages.
Josh Baskin is sick of being an awkward kid. At a carnival, he makes a wish to the Zoltar
machine to become “big”. To his shock, his wish is granted.
After an understandably awkward beginning, Josh is forced to do “adult” things like
getting a job and a girlfriend. In the end, he discovers there’s much more to being an
adult than he’s bargained for, and learns we must all grow up at our own pace, in our
own time.
The Conquest Theatre is a volunteer-run, charity theatre in the Herefordshire market
town of Bromyard and its packed programme boasts a range of events from tribute
bands, event cinema and films to musicals, comedies and folk sessions.
It also has a talented and exciting drama group, where people from all walks of life can
come together and share their love for drama.
Directed by Rebecca Cook, who has already overseen Chicago, Legally Blonde and Little
Shop of Horrors, we’re excited to announce this year’s autumn musical incorporates the
Conquest’s youth theatre.
Run by The Courtyard in Hereford, the youth theatre caters for children between the
ages of six and 18 and it will be their first time in a full-scale musical.
Big the Musical will be held at the Conquest Theatre in Tenbury Road, Bromyard, from
Wednesday 25 – Saturday 28 October with shows at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. To book tickets,
or for more information, contact the box office in 01885 488575 or visit conquest-theatre.co.uk
