On the first Bank Holiday in May not even the wet weather could stop the crowds of hundreds of people descending on the Kempson Playing Fields in Bromyard for the first Party in the Park held in the town after the Covid lockdowns brought society to a standstill.
The free event included an array of fine acts and a festival atmosphere revellers were treated to a day of fantastic live music, several food outlets, 16 trade stalls and the Queens Arms, Bromyard supplying the bar for the day.
Including Psychedelic Hearts Club, Mattie Brightsea, Brian Jones, Poverty Corner, The Wilbur & Daddy Show, The Human Error, Soapbox Preachers, Band For Hire and the local super group ‘Blue Merlin’ that included renowned guitarist Remi Harris and also Darren Beale on Bass who has recently been touring with the Boomtown Rats (Both of the guys originally lived within 200 yards of the park!) alongside Dave Small a fantastic drummer and vocalist playing a variety of classic Blues rock.
The event organised by the Kempson Players Committee and hosted by local online radio station Bromyard FM raised a grand total of £4,160.72 that will go towards the maintenance and upgrading of the park.
Special thanks must go to Bromyard Scaffolding, Bromyard Tool Hire, Tracy Weaver, The Town Marquess Group, Pete Gilbert, Wye Valley Brewery and all who gave prizes, helped and all who came and supported us. If anyone wishes to join the Committee or come and help at our fund raising events, please contact us by sending a message to Kempson Players | Facebook (Click link to find out more)
